About

Rachael Lagarde Walker is a gifted watercolor artist, an art educator, a devoted wife, and a loving mother from the picturesque town of Covington, Louisiana. She has been enamored with art since her formative years, and her artistic passions were further refined by her creative parents and a remarkable 2nd-grade teacher who instilled in her a lifelong love for the arts.

Rachael's love for art has been her guiding light throughout her academic and professional journey. She pursued her interest in art throughout her grade school and college years, earning a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University and an art educator certification from Southeastern Louisiana University. Rachael is currently attending Columbia University for her Masters in Arts, Studio Arts for Art Educators.

Rachael's artistic forte is watercolor painting, and she has devoted the past fourteen years of her life to perfecting her craft from her studio in north Covington. Her artwork is renowned for its classic style, which is infused with unexpected imagery that never fails to surprise and delight.

Apart from being an accomplished artist, Rachael is a passionate art educator who has been teaching the subject for over thirteen years. Her mission is to inspire and nurture young artists of all ages to find their own unique voices and create beautiful works of art. Currently, she teaches art to junior high students in the St. Tammany Public School System, where she also resides and has her art studio.

Rachael's art is a reflection of her personal experiences, growing up with three sisters and driven parents. Her work celebrates the power of women and the beauty of growth, both visible and unseen. Her exceptional artistic talent and unique perspective have enabled her to create stunning works of art that capture the essence of the female spirit, characterized by resilience, courage, and an unquenchable thirst for life.

These days, Rachael finds great joy in painting for herself and teaching others creative skills she has picked up on her artistic journey. Her goal for 2024 is protecting her peace and maintaining the joy that painting for herself brings.

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” —Saint Francis de Sales
